Introduction:
Hello, we are Matt and Lauren. Thank you for looking at our profile and learning more about us. We are both veterinarians who bonded over our shared love of animals and New York City. We love each other, our pets, families, and friends very much; and we are looking forward to sharing our love with a child.
About Us:
We met in veterinary school over 10 years ago when a mutual friend introduced us. For our first date, Matt brought dog toys for Lauren’s dogs instead of flowers. When we finished vet school, we moved to New Jersey to be closer to family. We were married over 5 years ago at an aquarium and our officiant was the friend who introduced us. We share our home with our dog, Fallon, and cat, Piranha.
We both enjoy the beach, travelling, concerts, museums, and Broadway shows. We both have fond memories of growing up with Billy Joel songs and have seen him perform at Madison Square Garden 6 times together! We’re excited to share our love of live music and concerts with a child, and to fill our house with this music and laughter. We also enjoy going to Broadway shows and will travel to New York City several times a year to see shows, go to holiday markets, tour museums, and visit friends.
Family Life:
We are both veterinarians and spent many years in clinical practice before transitioning to office work that allows us more flexibility and time to spend together. During our free time, we enjoy staying active by walking our dog around town or at the beach. Matt also likes to run and Lauren is on a swim team. We belong to our local community pool in the summer and walk the beach most weekends in the winter. We share household responsibilities. Matt enjoys cooking and Lauren enjoys gardening. We both care for our pets and plan to fully share child care responsibilities as well.
Our Friends and Family:
We are close to both of our families. Matt’s family lives in New Jersey. His mother still lives in the town where he grew up. His younger brother also lives in New Jersey with his wife, daughter, and son. We see Matt’s family for holidays and we spend many summer weekends at their family lake house in upstate New York. Lauren is from Ohio and her parents still live in the town where she grew up. Her younger sister lives in Colorado with her husband, daughter, and son. We travel to see her family a few times a year for concerts, birthdays, and holidays. Our families also enjoy coming to visit us at the beach.
We have friends locally and around the country. We often travel to meet up with friends. We celebrated a friend’s birthday in San Diego, visited friends in Atlanta, and met up with vet school friends at conferences in Austin and Las Vegas. All of our family and friends are excited to help us welcome a child into our family.
Our Home and Community:
We enjoy spending time at home with each other and our pets. Our home has a large back yard and wrap-around front porch where we spend time outside reading, gardening, or drinking coffee on weekend mornings. We love living close to the beach where we can walk our dog around town and on the boardwalk. Our town has many local restaurants, farmer’s markets, small businesses, and art galleries. There are sidewalks where kids can ride bikes and many local parks with playgrounds. The beach is a fun place to go all year round and we fully take advantage of living so close to the ocean.
